Songs of War

Muslim Prayer

Eight Note

Verse One

A madman lives across the water,
A madman lives across the sea,
A madman borne of fire and fury,
A madman who would threaten me,
But I will sing these songs of freedom,
I will sing these songs of war,
I will be there if you need me,
I will be there if you call.

Verse Two

There is talk of war on hallowed ground,
The sounds of gunfire all around,
Where once there stood a holy man,
Who talked about a promised land,
But I will sing these songs of freedom,
I will sing these songs of war,
I will be there if you need me,
I will be there if you fall.

Verse Three

Man makes bombs to kill the people,
To neutralize the threat of evil,
We live in terror, not in peace,
Where human suffering matters least,
So we must sing these songs of freedom,
We must sing these songs of war,
We must be there if you need us,
We must be there if you call.

About the Song

This was an incredibly difficult song to record and uses samples from various You Tube videos featuring Mai Kamal and Abdur Rahman Al Ossi reciting part of the Quran. As the song evolved, I realised I needed to have the Arabic samples but since the music and lyrics had already been written, it was incredibly hard to find samples that matched the music. I will leave it up to the listener to decide who the 'Madman' really is!
